LL season starts with skills competition
PENDLETON In conjuction with Pendleton Little Leagues opening night on Friday there will be a Pitch, Hit and Run competition for boys and girls ages 7 to 14 years old.

Registration begins at the Pendleton Little League Fields off Byers Avenue at 4:30 p.m. and the competition opens at 4:45 and runs through 6.
Awards will be presented to the best boys and girls score in each of four age divisions with winners advancing to the sectional level.

Hermiston Little League opens season
HERMISTON Opening ceremonies for Hermiston Little League will be held on Saturday at Shockman Field at the Field of Dreams Complex at 1300 Diagonal Road in Hermiston.

Ceremonies will begin at 11 a.m. with games to follow starting at noon.
Golf Shootout raises money for schools
UMATILLA The Tom Denchel Ford Country Shootout golf tournament will be April 13 and 14 at Umatillas Big River Golf?Course.
The tournament will have an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start both Saturday and Sunday and is for two-person pairings. The fourth annual event features a hole-in-one challenge and golfers can win a new car provided by Tom Denchel Ford Country.
Entry is $125 per person or $115 for Big River members. Proceeds raised from the tournament will benefit high schools in Hermiston, Umatilla and Stanfield.

Sunridge to host hoops showdown
PENDLETON The East Oregon Showdown 3-on-3 basketball tournament will be held at Sunridge Middle School in Pendleton on May 25-26.
The tournament is open to boys and girls in 4th-12th grades, as well as adults. Co-ed divisions also will be available for youth and adult players.
Cost is $95 per team if registered by May 8. After that cost goes to $110 per team until the registration deadline of May 11. Registration fee includes a T-shirt and teams are guaranteed at least three games.
Teams can have four players maximum. Awards will be given for first and second place in each division.

Equestrian team completes second meet
PENDLETON? The Pendleton High School equestrian team earned four top-three finishes at its second meet of the season on March 29-31 at the Deschutes County Fair and Expo Center in Redmond.
Crystal Mitchell had a hand in all of teams high placings and was second in trail, and third in hunt seat equitation and western horsemanship. She also teamed with Tyler Ruth to place second in working pairs and was fourth in dressage.
She and Ruth combined with Mallory Walter and Eliza Wagner to place fifth in in-hand obstacle relay.
The Bucks were fourth overall in the small team division.
Mammoth tourney to benefit Tamastslikt
MISSION? The first ever Mammoth Cup Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, May 3, at Wildhorse Golf Course in Mission.
This scramble format tourney is planned to be Tamastslikt Cultural Institutes premier fundraiser and an excellent opportunity to play one of the regions top golf courses. The tournament is named in recognition of the two mammoth teeth excavated when the Wildhorse Resort Golf Course was being built.
Foursomes can register for the Mammoth Cup through April 26. The entry fee is $95 per person (tax-deductible) and includes green fees, complimentary range balls, tee prize, box lunch, and awards banquet. There will be plenty of prizes to be won, beverage carts throughout the day, a raffle for golf items and rounds, and lots of side bets.
The shotgun start is at 1 p.m. Registration opens at 11:30 a.m. The awards banquet will be held on the patio of the Clubhouse Grill immediately following the tournament.
