PENDLETON — Pendleton got off to a hot start to hand 5A Ridgeview a 51-32 nonleague loss Thursday, Dec. 21, at Warberg Court.

“It wasn’t the prettiest game, but we’ll take the result,” Pendleton coach Tim Foster said, “We were sloppy with the ball at times, and struggled throughout to get two hands on loose balls.”

The Bucks (5-5) opened the game with a 20-14 lead after the first quarter, and extended their lead to 32-24 at the half.

Pendleton took the reins for good with a 15-2 run in the third quarter for a commanding 47-26 lead.

“We had a lot of girls step up and make plays,” Foster said. “Melanie Boatman gave us a big boost on offense. She rebounded well and knocked down some key shots to help us get going early. Josie Jenness had another good outing as well.”

Hailey Schmidt led the Bucks with 14 points, while Boatman had 11 and Jenness eight.

Z Rico and Stefanie Pfliiger led Ridgeview (4-2) with seven points each.

The Bucks will be back in action Dec. 28 at the Avista Holiday Tournament in Lewiston, Idaho.
