PENDLETON – The new detoxification and respite center, an operation of the Eastern Oregon Alcoholism Foundation, will officially open with a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The 3762-square-foot facility, located at 4708 N.W. Pioneer Place west of the Umatilla County Jail , contains 12 beds for detoxification of individuals under the influence of alcohol and drugs, as well as four beds for respite care for mental health clients.

EOAF currently operates a detox center in the basement of the Blue Mountain Recovery Center and has been looking to relocate since 2001. Funding for the new project came from the Greater Eastern Oregon Development Corporation, DHS Addictions and Mental Health, the Oregon Economic and Community Development Project, Wildhorse Foundation and the Pendleton Foundation Trust. Umatilla County donated the land.
