HHS cross country hosts 5k, 2-mile runsHERMISTON – The Hermiston cross country team is hosting the Hearts for Hope scholarship run Saturday, March 15 at 9 a.m.

The donation-only event will go to benefit the cross country team, and both a 5k and 2-mile race will be available. Afterwards, an 400- and 800-meter race will be run for those 10 and under.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. the day of the race.

MF Fastpitch looking for fresh talentMILTON-FREEWATER – The Crossfire Fastpitch 14-and-under girls’ ASA softball team is looking to add a few more good players to the team.

The team will be competing in Fastpitch tournaments throughout the Northwest beginning in March.

The league is for those who were 14 or younger before Jan. 1 of this year. Call Allen at (509) 301-4978 or T.J. at (509) 301-4977 to schedule a tryout.

Two tennis camps available in MarchMILTON-FREEWATER – The Milton-Freewater School District will host two tennis camps for middle school students this spring.

The Pioneer Tennis Clinics are scheduled for March 8 and April 19, both from 10 a.m. to noon at the Milton-Freewater City Courts. These clinics are geared toward 7th and 8th grade students from Milton-Freewater.

Students need only bring themselves and a pair of tennis shoes. If the student has a tennis racquet, please be sure to bring that along as well.

The cost is just $2 per day and T-shirts are $15.
