WEDNESDAY
A woman told Pendleton police at 10:16 a.m. that someone vandalized her daughters 1994 Ford Ranger in the 1300 block of Southeast Third Street. The mother said the windshield and passenger side window were shattered between 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
A caller at 10:50 a.m. complained to Pendleton City Hall and then to Pendleton police that construction work on the new hospital off Southgate has been starting at 4:30 a.m. and continuing until 9:30 p.m. The caller asked police to do something about that.
A Winchester Model 1895 lever-action rifle worth $4,000 was stolen from a Milton-Freewater residence sometime since July 2010, a man told the Umatilla County Sheriffs Office at 11:06 a.m. He said the rifle was at his ex-wifes home, and he also named a suspect.
A blue 1997 Toyota Tacoma was stolen from the parking lot of Riverpoint Farms, 28790 Westport Lane, Hermiston, the business officer manager told the Umatilla County Sheriffs Office at 11:38 a.m. The vehicle was taken between 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and 5 a.m. Wednesday. The keys were left in the vehicle as routine procedure. The Toyota has Riverpoint Farms advertising stickers on the sides and on the back window.
An Athena man at 6:54 p.m. told police he was being scammed in an Internet business transaction. He said he sold a musical instrument online, and the buyer deposited the price plus $600. He then received emails from the buyer and PayPal, the e-commerce business that allows payments and money transfers via the Internet, advising him to wire $500 to a third party who would get the instrument. When he got a second such transfer request from the buyer he figured it was a con. The man said he called the fraud departments of PayPal and Western Union. An officer said he would investigate.
A man at 6:45 p.m. said a male and female robbed him at gunpoint on Tutuilla Church Road outside Pendleton. He told the Umatilla County Sheriffs Office he was in his car and the pair took his money and keys. He called police again at 7:19 p.m. and asked for an extra patrol because the culprits may know where he lives.
THURSDAY
A brown-and-white pit bull and a large black dog charged a third dog on a leash in the 200 block of Main Street, Heppner, the leashed pets owner told the Morrow County Sheriffs Office at 9:54 a.m. She said she hit the dogs to get them away from hers, and the pit bull bit her dog, but she couldnt see injuries.
A black Labrador puppy scratched a 5-year-old girl and bit at her in her yard in the 600 block of Northwest Third Street, Pendleton, the childs mother told police at 10:11 a.m. She said the child is fine, the dog put some holes in her clothes, but she wants the owner to be aware of the dogs behavior and keep it in its yard.
In a third dog-related problem, a Hermiston woman at 12:35 p.m. told police her neighbor’s dog attacked her cat in the 600 block of Southeast 10th Street.
A pair of Pendleton residents reported thefts from their vehicles. One owner at 10:42 a.m. told police a stero was broken in an attempt to take it and $2 in change was stolen from his unlocked black 1990 Toyota pickup in the 300 block of Southwest Second Street. The second caller at 2:14 p.m. said someone stole a $200 Kindle Fire, an electronic book device with Internet capabilites, through the open window of her silver 2003 Kia Sedona parked on the 1100 block of Northwest Carden Avenue.
Another local resident reported someone used her Social Security number on a federal tax return. She told Hermiston police at 2:39 p.m. that she called the IRS about the status of her refund check, and the agency told her someone in Florida already made the claim and used the same Social Security number. She said the IRS wants documentation to see who the number belongs to.
A Hermiston man at 2:58 p.m. told police someone shot his dog in the leg with a BB gun. He said he confronted neighbors recently because they were shooting BB guns toward his yard. He asked police to explain his options.
A UPS driver knocked over a lilac bush in th 100 block of Northwest Washington Avenue, Irrigon, the plants owner told the Morrow County Sheriffs Office at 4:57 p.m.
A Boardman man at 5:44 p.m. told police there was something under his house in the 600 block of Wilson Road Southwest. A Morrow County sheriffs deputy responded and determined it was a cat.
A 32-year-old Latino man told Oregon State Police that three male traveling companions planned to stab him. He said at about 8:15 p.m. that he and three other men were Portland bound in a white 2012 Ford Escape with Utah plates when the group stopped at Wildhorse Resort & Casino near Milepost 216 on Interstate 84, about six miles from Pendleton. The man sought help from casino security, telling officers he had overheard the other three discussing a plan to stab him. The trio left, and security called state police. Troopers talked to the man and will forward a report to the Umatilla County district attorney.
Someone stole $150 cash from a purse belonging to a shopper at the Hermiston Walmart, 1350 N. First St., the purses owner told police at 8:29 p.m. She said she left the purse in a shopping cart, and someone gave it to the store. Receipts also were missing, she said, and it looked like someone had re-arranged her credit cards.

Wednesday
Hermiston police arrested Traci Lynne Buschke, 23, of 846 W. Orchard Ave., Hermiston, for driving under the influence of intoxicants (drugs).
Thursday
Pendleton police arrested Derek Lamar Williams, 25, of the Pendleton area, on charges of second-degree assault, second-degree criminal mischief and recklessly endangering after a caller at 5:37 p.m. said Williams threw rocks at his house in the 300 block of Southwest 15th Street. The caller said the rocks damaged the house, a car and one rock hit his aunt in the head, but she declined medical attention.
