Round-Up cookbook wins regional award

The Pendleton Round-Up-themed cookbook “Beyond the Bull” recently was named west regional winner of the Tabasco Community Cookbook Awards.

The book, released last year to mark the Round-Up’s upcoming centennial celebration, weaves hundreds of recipes through photographs and stories from the rodeo’s history. It landed among six regional winners, along with three national award winners recognized by Tabasco.

Cookbook committee chair Mary Alice Ridgway entered “Beyond the Bull”?into the contest at the suggestion of Wimmer Cookbooks, which printed the book. The book was the only winner west of the Mississippi River.

“We’re very, very pleased and proud to be representing so many states,”?Ridgway said in a released statement.

The awards recognized “My Mama Made That … Virginia Favorites” as the national first-place winner. That book was published by the?Junior League of Hampton Roads in Newport News, Va.
