MADRAS?-?The Hermiston boys’ basketball team got physically dominated as the Madras White Buffalos ran them out of the gym Thursday in the Intermountain Conference finale.

Madras screamed ahead 44-23 by halftime on their way to an 86-61 victory.

“It was the layup drill for them the whole second quarter. I?think they shot six straight uncontested layups in the second quarter,” said Hermiston coach Larry Usher. “They got every defensive rebound and then hit the layout. Our kids didn’t get back very well. We just didn’t play very inspired basketball.”

On top of that, Usher said his team didn’t defend with much heart as evidenced by their 12 personal fouls in the entire game.

“We didn’t fight back,”?he said.

Kurt Simmons led Hermiston (11-13, 5-9 IMC) with 13 points while an inspired Madras (14-10, 7-7 IMC), playing on senior night, was led by C.J. Easterling’s 28 points.
