HERMISTON – The city of Hermiston will be in charge of permitting new commercial plumbing projects starting July 1.

“The state is trying to get out of the inspection business,” said Chuck Woolsey, city building official.

Every new commercial building or buildings installing new fixtures must go through a permitting process. Woolsey said the city has acquired a certified person to perform the inspections – it happens to be him – and funds from the program will add about $15,000 to the city’s budget per year.
