HERMISTON — Sandy McKay, agricultural science teacher and Future Farmers of America advisor at Hermiston High School, has been selected to judge at the California FFA State Convention in Sacramento.

The Hermiston School District announced McKay will serve as a judge on April 3 for the Beginning and Advanced Parliamentary Procedure finals.

The California FFA State Convention is one of the largest gatherings of student leaders in agricultural education, drawing thousands of FFA members from across the state.

“It’s a huge honor for Sandy McKay to be chosen as a judge for this contest, and a proud moment for our FFA chapter,” FFA Alumni President Ray Baker said. “This recognition highlights the hard work and success of our members and advisors. We’re excited to see our chapter continue to thrive in the FFA and agricultural community with Sandy’s support.”

McKay, now in his fifth year as an agricultural science teacher and FFA advisor, was selected for this role because of his success in coaching Parliamentary Procedure teams.

According to the Hermiston School District press release, McKay’s selection as a judge is a testament to his expertise, leadership and the impact he has made on FFA students and programs.

During the past three years, McKay has led two beginning and two advanced teams to the FFA National Convention, including last year’s team, which earned a third-place finish.
