Milton-Freewater police make arrests in liquor store burglary

MILTON-FREEWATER —Milton-Freewater police arrested two people in connection to the Nov. 27, 2024, burglary of the town liquor store.

Officers early that morning responded to a burglary alarm at the store at 178 S. Main St. and found a damaged front door and the theft of approximately $100 in alcohol.

According to a Jan. 2 statement from the police department, Milton-Freewater detectives conducted numerous interviews and reviewed camera footage from businesses in the area. From that, detectives identified two suspects: Glenford James Quaring, 30, of Walla Walla, and Austin Henry Svehaug, 18, of Milton-Freewater.

Police arrested both and booked them into the Umatilla County Jail, Pendleton, on counts of third-degree theft and second-degree burglary. Police also arrested Svehaug for second-degree criminal mischief.
