MORROW COUNTY — The Morrow County School District and its board of directors are moving forward to complete the next steps toward the district’s general obligation bond.
The board meets for a work session at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, to review recommendations from the district’s Community Bond Advisory Committee and get answers to more questions. For more information about the session, including to join virtually, visit www.morrow.k12.or.us/page/school-board.
The CBAC met for nine months to develop the bond draft recommendations.
“Over many months, these community members attended meetings, discussed options, reviewed data, asked questions and developed detailed bond project recommendations and we are very grateful for their time, dedication and work,” MCSD Superintendent Matt Combe said.
After the board work session, the district and board anticipate the board will approve the bond resolution for the ballot in May 2025.
The district recently was notified it qualified for a matching grant of $6 million from the Oregon School Capital Improvement Matching Program. The district receives the grant if Morrow County voters in the spring approve the bond.
Taxpayers in the Morrow County School District are not paying for a school district bond or levy. The last general obligation bond voters there passed was in 2001, and it expired in 2021. Voters last passed an operating levy in 2012. It was not for facility construction or upgrades, and it expired in 2016.
