TOLLGATE The Walla Walla Ranger District of the Umatilla National Forest will host a public meeting Thursday to discuss proposed fuel reduction projects around Tollgate.

The meeting will start at 6 p.m. at the Tollgate Trail Finders Clubhouse on Highway 204, next to the Tollgate Store.

In 2005, Umatilla County’s Community Wildfire Protection Plan identified the Upper 204/Tollgate wildland-urban interface area as a priority for fuels reduction projects to lessen the impact of wildfire on lives, property and the landscape.

In a news release District Ranger Mike Rassbach said the Forest Service is looking for comments to help improve the proposal and meet project objectives

For more information about the public meeting or the fuels reduction proposal, contact Kimpton Cooper, environmental coordinator at the Walla Walla Ranger District, 509-522-6009.
