Pendleton FFA hosts Farm Day, celebrates state convention

PENDLETON — Pendleton FFA members invite the community to learn about agriculture in the Pendleton area during Farm Day.

In its second year, the event provides information about commodities that Oregon produces, a chance to see live animals and participate in activities at different stations. Farm Day is Wednesday, April 24, 4:30-7 p.m. at Sunridge Middle School, 700 SW Runnion Ave., Pendleton. Admission is free.

In other Pendleton FFA news, several members received state honors and awards during the Oregon FFA State Convention, held March 21-24 at the Deschutes Fair & Expo Center in Redmond. Seven students received their State FFA Degree: Adrie Fisher, Michael Rosselle, Dakota McLaughlin, Casey Van Dorn, Hailey Loiland, Lanie Burke and Trinity Stevens.

Other awards and recognition included Abbie Wilks, first, creed speaking and bronze in beginning portfolio; Crae Campbell, State Star in agribusiness and state proficiency winner in ag mechanics fabrication and design; District proficiency winners and state competitors were Michael Rosselle in goat production; Kelli Nelson in sheep production; and Vance Nelson in swine production; and Kelli Nelson, fifth in job interview. Also, placing in the top eight were Evelyn Hayes in beginning public speaking; and Alexander Krokosz in talent. And photography and art winners were Abbie Wilks, Jack Broadfoot and Hazel Case.
