Fireworks on the 4th

PENDLETON & HERMISTON — Pendleton’s fireworks display returns to July 4 this year at 10 p.m., launched from the lot west of Walmart. The day starts with a parade at 10 a.m., from city hall to the Convention Center, and a community celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Roy Raley Park. Hermiston’s annual Stars & Stripes Celebration in Butte Park kicks off at 3 p.m., with vendors, games, entertainment and fireworks at 10 p.m.

EASTERN OREGON — Want to save a little money on your in-state travels this summer? The Libraries of Eastern Oregon consortium has free museum passes and state park discounts, available through your local library. The Discover and Go program offers free passes for Maryhill Museum of Art, Columbia Gorge Discovery Center, High Desert Museum and OMSI, as well as single day use passes covering fees at any Oregon State Park. Mobile Library visits CTUIR

MISSION — Pendleton Library is bringing the Mobile Library to Mission this summer for weekly events and a convenient opportunity to check out books. Look for the trailer at July Grounds on Saturday, July 13 from 1 to 3 p.m., with STEM Storytime in the park at 1:15. Then on Fridays from 4 to 6 p.m., they will be at Wetlands Park (July 19), with Luca Timas Book Club at 5 p.m., Mission Market (July 26) with Mobile Arcade activities, and on Aug. 2 come by Timine Way for a Family Minecraft Build. Movies in the Park hit the big screens

PENDLETON & HERMISTON — Fridays are movie nights, with Movies in the Park in two spots. In Butte Park during Fridays in July, Hermiston Parks & Rec starts the show 8:45 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets for “Jurassic Park” (7/12), “Migration” (7/19) and “Barbie” (7/26). Show sponsor Lamb Weston will be serving up french fries. In Pendleton’s Community Park, shows include “The Little Mermaid” (7/12), “Space Jam” (7/19), “Barbie” (7/26) and “Shrek” (8/2). Mini Clay Camp free for teens

PENDLETON — Pendleton Center for the Arts, on 214 N. Main St., is offering a week-long “open studio” for teens to learn how to sculpt and work with clay. Monday through Friday, July 8 to 12, from noon to 2 p.m. teens can build their creations, then glaze and fire them, while an expert offers advice and answers questions.
