HERMISTON — The Hermiston City Council during its meeting July 22 certified the results of the primary elections for mayor and municipal court judge.

Doug Primmer received more than half of the votes for mayor — 1,094 out of 2,154 votes, according to a press release from the city. Because Primmer won the majority of the votes, he will be the only candidate for mayor on the final general election ballot.

Primmer is the city council president, and the closest opponent was Councilor Jackie Linton, with 518 votes.

Cameron Bendixsen ran for the municipal court judge spot unopposed.

Candidates for four at-large positions on the Hermiston City Council also will appear on the general election ballot. The nonpartisan position is open to anyone living within Hermiston city limits and the deadline to file as a candidate is 5 p.m. Aug. 27.

The general election for all positions is Nov. 5, and each position starts in January 2025.

More details of the election are available at www.hermiston.gov/elections or by visiting Hermiston City Hall.
