Singing, dancing … and chocolate!
ELGIN — Who can resist an Oompah Loompa? The Elgin Opera House (104 N. Eighth Ave.) opens their musical version of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” on Sept. 21 with performances on Fridays and Saturdays through Oct. 12. The Broadway hit features a couple songs from the movie and many new ones. Seats are $8 to $18. Teens and adults can try out basket weaving
PENDLETON — On Saturday, Sept. 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Pendleton Center for the Arts will host a day-long class, led by expert weaver Alexandria Sorrels. The class covers the process of basketry, tools and techniques, coloring materials, and tips to assist with shaping and other challenges. All levels are welcome. Every mule has their day in Hells Canyon
ENTERPRISE — Hells Canyon Mule Days are rolling into Wallowa County Fairgrounds, 668 NW First St., Friday through Sunday, Sept. 6 to 8. Every year fans from across the West celebrate mules and mule skinners. Competitors in every age group have a chance to show off their mulemanship skills. Other activities include artisans and exhibitors, cowboy poetry, a nonmotorized parade, pit BBQ dinner, mule sale, Saturday night concert, and a dutch oven cook-off. Three-day admission button is $10, adults; $8, seniors; $3, youth, age 7 to 12. One day admission is $5, adults/seniors, $3, youth.
