PENDLETON — Local voters can find out what Umatilla County commissioner candidates have to say on a number of issues during a public forum.
The free event is Thursday, Oct. 6, 7 p.m. in the Vert Club Room, 345 S.W. Fourth St., Pendleton.
Candidates for Position No. 1 are Susan Bower of Pendleton and Cindy Timmons of Milton-Freewater. George Murdock, who held the position since a special election in 2013 to replace Bill Hansell, did not file for reelection. Vying for Position No. 2 are incumbent John Shafer and challenger HollyJo Beers, both of Pendleton.
The Pendleton chapter of American Association of University Women and the East Oregonian are sponsoring the forum. Candidates will begin with a statement. Each will have an opportunity to answer questions presented by the AAUW and EO. The last half hour is reserved for questions from the audience.
