DAYTON — The public is invited to experience what daily life was like during the early 20th century at Dayton Days.
Visitors will learn about old-time tools, how to tie a quilt and using a washboard and wringer to do laundry. People also will have an opportunity to plant flowers in the Boldman Garden, mow a lawn with a reel mower, grind coffee with an old-time grinder and enjoy homemade bread with creamy fresh butter that they have churned.
The free event kicks off Saturday at 10 a.m. with a parade in downtown Dayton, Washington. The museum activities run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Boldman House Museum, 410 N. Fourth St. In addition, the Historic Courthouse lawn will be full of western roping and horsemanship activities and Smith Hollow School will be holding mock classes for all ages.
The Blue Mountain Station will celebrate its Summer Market opening from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will feature local vendors, activities for kids and a petting zoo. Also, be sure to stop by the Wenaha Gallery for a special art show and free artisan treats from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Many of the downtown shops, restaurants and businesses will offer various specials and promotions.
