HERMISTON — N.W. Metal Fabricators in Hermiston has expanded its services to include a powder coating shop.

The shop can provide powder coating on items up to 10 feet wide, 10 feet tall and 35 feet long.

Aaron Karlson, general manager, said the process involves coating metal surfaces with a magnetically charged powder and baking it in an oven to provide a polished, anti-rust coating.

“It’s much more durable and longer-lasting than paint,” he said.

It’s also more environmentally friendly.

Karlson said popular items to get powder-coated include deck furniture, gates, motorcycle parts and truck beds.
