Cowboys know what they like, and for the fourth year in a row, they voted the Pendleton Round-Up as the PRCA’s Large Outdoor Rodeo of the Year.

The Pendleton Round-Up committee members were on hand Wednesday night to pick up the award at the annual PRAC awards banquet in Las Vegas.

“There is no higher honor than to be recognized by cowboy contestants and fellow rodeo committees,” newly appointed Pendleton Round-Up publicity director Pat Reay said in a new release. “It is because of the dedication of many volunteers, staff and loyal supporters in our local community that the Round-Up has been able to maintain this status for four consecutive years.”

It is the sixth time the Round-Up has won the award. It also took home the honor in 2003 and 2010.

“To be crowned again in 2018 is a dream and something we hold in the highest regard,” Pendleton Round-Up president Dave O’Neill said in a news release. “We are very proud to bring this award home to our community; to the people who have helped build and shape the traditions that make this an event like no other.”

The Round-Up, which celebrated it’s 108th year in September, set a ticket sales record this year of $1.3 million, as fans came from near and far to take in the historic rodeo.

The Round-Up also was one of five rodeos to be nominated for the Hesston Sowing Good Deeds Award, which recognizes rodeos that contribute significant support for local, regional and national charities and organizations. The Sikeston (Mo.) Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo won the award.
