Oregon State Police troopers near Pendleton and Hermiston arrested four people early Sunday for driving intoxicated and drugs offenses.

The first arrest was shortly after 12:15 a.m., when a trooper stopped a 1996 Ford Explorer for driving too fast for the conditions on East Punkin Center Road. OSP reported the driver, James Daniel Riley, 25, of Irrigon, showed signs of impairment and failed a sobriety test. The trooper also found a methamphetamine pipe in the glove box.

The trooper arrested Riley on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants and possession of methamphetamine.

The second arrested came at about 1:35 a.m. in the eastbound lane of Interstate 84 near Milepost 212, when a trooper noticed a vehicle failed to dim high beams. As the trooper caught up to the 2006 Dodge Pickup, it crossed the middle line three times, OSP reported. The trooper ended up arresting the driver, Orville Jay Jones, 52, of Kennewick, Wash., for DUII.

The last two arrests of the morning came at about 2 a.m., when OSP Trooper Trampas McCrae stopped a 2002 GMC pickup for a moving violation at Best and Shaw roads near McKay Reservoir. McCrae found a quantity of marijuana, digital scales and over $1,000 in cash in the vehicle, OSP reported. 

The trooper arrested the driver Nicolas E. Zubira, 20, of Pendleton, for DUII and two counts of reckless endangering. OSP reported Zubrias blood alcohol lever was .16 percent, twice the legal limit.

McCrea also arrested Zubira and passenger Steven Smith, also 20 of Pendleton, for possession, distribution and manufacture of marijuana.

Police booked all of the suspects into the Umatilla County Jail in Pendleton, though by this morning none remain behind bars.
