Karen Renee (Fitzsimmons) Dickenson, a Pendleton resident, died Friday, September 4, 2015, at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, Washington. She was 41 years old.

A memorial service will be held at Burns Mortuary of Pendleton chapel on Friday, September 11, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. Contributions in memory of Karen may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project and may be sent directly or in care of Burns Mortuary of Pendleton, P.O. Karen was born in Pendleton, Oregon, to Dave and Carol (Christiansen) Fitzsimmons. She attended school in Pendleton School District, graduating from Pendleton High School in June 1993. She received her AA in early childhood education at Blue Mountain Community College.

After high school she enlisted in the National Guard in 1993 following graduation and served in the Pendleton National Guard for six years. Karen worked at Wal-Mart as a cashier, in customer service, and in the café. She worked at Cayuse Technologies call center, as well as Smith Cannery and Hill Meat. On July 4, 2015, she married Donald Dickenson.

Karen enjoyed working with plastic canvas, playing cards and games, reading and collecting Snow White figurines.

Karen is survived by her husband Donald; parents Carol and Dave Fitzsimmons; son Timothy Fitzsimmons of Pendleton: Jayden Fitzsimmons of Wyoming; brother Melvin Fitzsimmons of Walla Walla; sister Roberta (Christopher) Smith of Kennewick, Wash.; grandmothers Iris Christiansen of Redmond and Kathleen Fitzsimmons of Pomeroy, Wash.; and four nieces.

She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Melvin Christiansen and Creighton Fitzsimmons, and an uncle, Steven Christiansen.
