Authors participate in book reading

COLLEGE?PLACE A pair of award-wining Northwest authors will read selections from their works during an upcoming event at Walla Walla University. The event, featuring Daniel Orozco and Jess Walter, is Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Village Hall at 204 S. College Ave., College Place, Wash.
Orozco is a former Stegner Fellow and Jones Lecturer at Stanford University. His recent book, Orientation, received a Whiting Award in November. His work has appeared in several anthologies, as well as Harpers Magazine. He currently teaches creative writing at the University of Idaho.
Walter, author of five novels and one nonfiction book, has been a National Book Award finalist. His essays, short fiction, criticism and journalism have been widely published. Financial Lives of the Poets was named one of 2009s best novels by Time, NPRs Fresh Air and numerous newspapers, including the Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post and The Oregonian.
