Sunset Senior Apartments in Athena received help with the project through donation of time and money.
The donations assisted with the completion of a 4-unit handicap accessible addition.
According to Tim Albert, board chairman of Sunset Housing, Inc., the project is appreciative of the efforts of Ashley Florence and her landscaping class at Weston-McEwen High School. They volunteered time for bark distribution and general property clean-up.
Also, the Watts Memorial Trust made a donation and an Awere Grant provided needed funds for a security system.
The new unit includes one bedroom apartments that are fully handicapped-accessible and furnished with dishwasher, clothes washer/dryer, patio, storage room, central heat/air with access to on-site mail delivery and Community Room. It’s located at the corner of South Fifth and East Currant streets in downtown Athena.
