MILTON-FREEWATER Law enforcement continues to search for a Milton-Freewater convenience store robber.

A male, armed with what was reported to be a firearm, entered the First Stop Mart, 85713 Highway 11, Milton-Freewater, at about 11:45 p.m. Thursday and robbed the clerk, the sheriff’s office reported in a written statement. The sheriff’s office did not say how much cash the robber stole.

The bandit took off on a bicycle, the sheriff’s office reported, and wore gloves, flannel shirt and brown pants.

Law enforcement from the sheriff’s offices of Umatilla and Walla Walla counties and Milton-Freewater and Walla Walla police departments responded. The bicycle and some clothing were scattered along Tum-a-Lum Lane, which is just around the corner from the store. A police dog from Walla Walla County found nothing. The sheriff’s statement said the Oregon State Police crime lab will examine the evidence.

Umatilla County Sheriff Terry Rowan said his department will follow up on all leads. The statement also asked anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the robber to contact the Umatilla County Sheriffs Office Dispatch Center at 541-966-3651.
