Cain Smith finished fifth in the Xtreme Bulls aggregate with his first-round ride worth 79.5 points. A.J. Hamre of Chico, California, took away the top prize and was one of only two riders to score in both rounds. His 82.5 in Round 1 and 81.5 in Round 2 was just enough to hold off statesman Dylan Vick for the title. Vick, of Escalon, California, finished two points behind Hamre in the aggregate with a 162.

Hamre earned $3,678.22 for the win.

Two events completed their first round on Thursday morning, but team roping wasnt one of them.

Hermistons Andy Carlson (heeler) teamed with Justin Marcos of Spokane, Washington, to post the mornings fastest time with a 6.2. Right behind them was Hermistons Jake Stanley (header) and his partner Justin Davis of Cottonwood, California, with their time of 6.5 seconds.

While they keep an eye on the leaderboard to see how much of a payday those times will be worth, steer wrestlers and tie-down ropers were paid for their efforts on Thursday.

In steer wrestling, Sterling Lambert of Fallon, Nevada, took home the top check of $1,711.58 with his time of 4.2. Ethan Thouvenell of Hooper, Utah, and Adrians Carl Seiders were second with a 4.3 and Heppners Blake Knowles made it into the money in eighth with a 5.0.

Cody Saculla turned in an 8.4 to win the first go of tie-down. The Bryan, Texas, roper earned $1,734.95. Trent Creager of Stillwater, Oklahoma, was second with an 8.5. Echos Jeff Coehlo placed eighth with a time of 9.5.

The 74th annual Sisters Rodeo will run through Sunday with the final round starting at 1 p.m.
