ELGIN A night after being upset by Weston-McEwen in overtime, the fifth-ranked Stanfield boys basketball team got back to its old ways in a 57-35 thrashing of Elgin.

Stanfield jumped out to a 15-4 first quarter lead and coasted to a Blue Mountain Conference win on Saturday night, putting its 45-44 letdown to the TigerScots on Friday in the rear-view mirror.

Senior guard Bryce Linker had 14 points to lead the Tigers (13-2, 6-2) and Adrian Angel added 13.

Defensively, Stanfield disconcerted the Huskies and didnt allow a single player to reach double figures. Curtis Little had eight points to lead Elgin (5-10, 3-5).

First-year Pilot Rock coach Cory Anderson wasnt too enthused about the Knights playing their starters late in the game.

I can see why you would try to (blow a team out) like that at the professional level, but not 2A basketball in?Oregon, Anderson said. But what goes around, comes around.
