Shane Proctor rode his way to the top of the Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series World Standings with a win at Anaheim Sunday.
The cowboy from Grand Coulee, Wash., turned in a 4-for-4 performance at the Honda Center to total 350.25 points and $47,465.
You know, I just drew really well this weekend, he said. I had some bulls that really fit my style and it all worked out here in the end.
Proctor was the only rider to cover all four bulls and he sealed the deal in the short-round aboard Buckmaster of Wentz Bucking Bulls for 89.25 points.
I got on him last week at Sacramento and I won a round on him and so I really knew him and that he could put up a high score, he said. I had a pretty decent lead coming into the short round.
In the bull draft at intermission Proctor had a decision to make and it turned out to the right one.
Theres a bull that I had won two rounds on before, After Party, and I chose Buckmaster over him because I knew I would be pushing my luck and I felt Buckmaster really fit me, he said.
Proctors move to the top is impressive.
Just a month ago he was alternate on the tour and was called up to compete at Winston-Salem, N.C., where he promptly won the event to earn a spot on the 35-man roster.
It feels real good,?he said. You know weve been working hard to just get here and it just feels real good to have another successful event.
Proctor also competes at as many PRCA rodeos as possible in bull riding and saddle bronc riding throughout the season.
I want to try and make the finals there too. Im just trying to work my butt off and get on as many bulls as I can, he said. I had to turn out in the short round at Fort Worth this weekend in the saddle bronc riding, but you have to sacrifice to overcome and hopefully it will work out for both at the end of the year.
Veteran Luke Snyder finished second by riding three of four bulls for 258 points. Snyder moved to 15th in this weeks world standings.
PRCA:?Bareback rider Kaycee Feild is at it again. The two-time world champion won his event at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo Saturday.
He turned in a five-round score of 333 points to earn $11,636 and moved to second place in this weeks PRCA World Standings.
Cody Wright was the rodeos top money-winner. He topped the bronc riding field with 236 points over three rounds. He cashed in for $11,689 and he sits firmly atop the world standings with more than $27,000.
The other champions at the $571,348 rodeo were steer wrestler Straws Milan (12.4 seconds on three head), team ropers Brock Hanson and Kory Koontz (16.1 seconds on three head), tie-down roper Randall Carlisle (25.7 seconds on three head), bull rider Friday Wright II (246 points on three head) and barrel racer Taylor Jacob (49.16 seconds on three runs).
