Spanish EO offers new insights

On Friday we published our new Spanish-language East Oregonian. It’s actually our second publication of an East Oregonian product in Spanish.
This new venture, which will publish monthly, grew out of series of stories and photographs first published in the East Oregonian in June.
That series, “Hispanics in Eastern Oregon, Building a New Life,” was our way of offering a glimpse of this vibrant, rich culture. The Hispanic population has been a growing segment of our community throughout Eastern Oregon and most notably in Umatilla and Morrow counties.
Drawn by work and by our quality of life, our Spanish-speaking neighbors, like us, have chosen to live and work here, and raise their families here.
The series was republished in Spanish and delivered to anywhere we thought would be a good location for reaching this audience. We received positive comments on that effort at telling the story of the Hispanic community and its growing impact on Eastern Oregon.
Through articles, pictures, columns, letters, opinions and advertisements each month, we seek to offer insight in Spanish and tell of the growing influence and impact of the Hispanic community.
While it’s a work in progress and one that will be shaped by your comments and suggestions, our goal is always to serve our readers with information that you find relative and important in your lives.
We see this as another opportunity. While it won’t be delivered to East Oregonian readers, it will be available through a variety of outlets such as local and area businesses, churches, and health centers, anywhere we believe there is an interest.
The East Oregonian Spanish edition will contain news that we hope is relevant to readers. We have coverage of city councils, school boards and county government that also appears in the East Oregonian and that impacts us all.
There will also be unique content, features and stories of the people and events of our Hispanic community. The emphasis, as with the East Oregonian, will remain heavily local. Here too though, we will strive to present news of wider interest from entertainment and sports, and also be of regional, national and international flavor.
We hope that our Spanish-speaking readers will find it useful, informative and entertaining.
We see this as one more way that we hope to be connected to our communities.
Through the East Oregonian, the East Oregonian Espanol, the Advisor, the Eastern Oregon Real Estate Guide and our Web site at www.eastoregonian.com, our goal is to provide you information you can use.
Feel free to contact us. Let us know what you think. We welcome your input. We thank you for the privilege of serving you.
