PENDLETON – Hazel Louise Adams, 89, of Pendleton, died Thursday, March 15, 2003, in Pendleton.

There will be no funeral service or viewing at Pendleton. Interment will be at Mount Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst, Ill.
Mrs. Adams was born March 20, 1914, at Chicago, Ill., to Louis and May Leubrie. She grew up in Chicago and lived in Illinois for 87 years, moving to Pendleton two years ago.
Her father died in 1917 and she spent her childhood in the Illinois Masonic Orphan’s Home at La Grange, Ill., along with her sister, Ada, and brothers, Bud and Roy. In 1927, while in the orphanage, she met the love of her life, James Adams. She graduated from Lyon’s Township High School in 1932 then worked as a secretary for Victor Comptometer Company.
In 1938, she married James Adams at Chicago. Their son, Larry, was born in 1952, and after his birth, she became a full-time homemaker.
She was active in the Edison Park Women’s Club and the Edison Park United Methodist Church. She moved to Pendleton in 2001 to be near her son.
Survivors include her brother, Robert Leubrie of Oak Park, Ill.; her son, Lawrence Adams of Pendleton; and grandsons, Leif Adams and Ian Adams. She was preceded in death by her husband; by sisters, Ruth Lee and Ada Darby, and brother, Roy Leubrie.
