Girls will love Disney’s ‘Lizzie McGuire’ movie

“Lizzie McGuire” is a Disney movie for girls 8 through 14. Lizzie (Hilary Duff) graduates from junior high and receives, as a gift, a trip to Rome.
Most junior high graduates don’t receive trips to Rome, but most people aren’t in a Disney film. This is a no-parents trip, though there is a goose-stepping chaperone in loco parentis, who is on her case every minute. Lizzie, by chance of course, looks just like the female half of a rock duo – just what the male half, Paolo (Yanni Gellman), needs to help present a prestigious rock award on national television.

He asks her help, and she agrees.
Lizzie is as cute as a gross of buttons, but there is nothing gross in the film. There is no profanity, nudity or alcohol. There are no drugs, car crashes, or explosions. The film does have a PG rating, but I don’t know for what. There are two brief kisses, one on the cheek and one momentarily on the lips.
What girl wouldn’t enjoy this film? It has romance, travel, fancy clothes, rock ‘n roll, cute boys and the wondrous architecture of Rome, where it was filmed. Girls will love it. Way cool.
