Rascal Flatts up for CMA’s top group award

PENDLETON – Rascal Flatts, the country group due to headline for the Chase Home Finance Pendleton Round-Up Happy Canyon Concert Saturday, Sept. 6, may add another award nomination to its list of honors.
The group has been nominated as the Country Music Association Group of the Year for 2003. The Academy of Country Music has already named Rascal Flatts as Group of the Year for 2003.
Rascal Flatts won the CMA’s Horizon Award for stars with a promising future in 2002. Also nominated for Group of the Year were Alabama, Lonestar, the Dixie Chicks and Diamond Rio.
Some tickets are still available for the Pendleton concert, which will also feature award-winning country artist Phil Vassar. Gates to the Happy Canyon Arena will open at 5:30 p.m., with the concert beginning at 7 p.m.
Round-Up and Happy Canyon officials also are planning a dance to begin immediately following the concert in the Pendleton Convention Center, featuring the music of the Little McKay Creek Band. Admission will be $6, or $4 with a concert ticket.
