NEWPORT – John “Jack” Milton Bowe, 72, a retired Hermiston postal worker, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at Newport.
The funeral was Monday at the Newport Church of the Nazarene.
Mr. Bowe was born July 20, 1932, at Portland, to George William and Ann C. Bowe. He grew up in Portland and graduated from Grant High School in 1950. After graduation he went to work at Fred Meyer in Portland.
In 1962, Mr. Bowe began working for the U.S. Postal Service at Canby. In 1969, he transferred from Canby to Hermiston, retiring at Hermiston in 1992 after 30 years with the Postal Service. In 1993, he and his wife, moved to Newport.
Mr. Bowe was a member of the Nazarene Church, the Barber Shop Pitch Pipers, Aquarium Marching Anchovies, and was a volunteer at the Oregon Coast Aquarium.
His first wife, Roberta, died Feb. 14, 1991, and a son, Rob Bowe, died April 13, 1999.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy, whom he married on Aug. 14, 1992, at Hermiston; his children, Diane Hutchinson and husband, Keith, of Portland, Brian Bowe and wife, Donna, of Taladega, Ala., Diane Bunch and Courtney Bunch, both of Newport; brother, Larry Bowe, and sister, Georgia Bowe, both of Portland; grandchildren, Tony, Aaron, Tricia, Parker, Jill, Mitch, John, Thomas, Harley, Alicia, Natasha, and Jason; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oregon Coast Aquarium.
Bateman Funeral Home, 915 N.E. Yaquina Heights Drive, Newport, OR 97365, was in charge of arrangements.
