ADAMS – Michael “Jughead” James Farrow, 56, of Adams, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, at Oregon Health & Sciences Univ- ersity in Portland.

Family dressing was 2 p.m. today at Burns Mortuary of Pendleton. Rosary will be 6 p.m. at the Tribal Longhouse at Mission. Washat service will be 7 p.m. at the Longhouse.

On Tuesday a Catholic service will be held at 8 a.m. at St. Andrews Catholic Church with burial at St. Andrews Cemetery with a dinner to be held at the Longhouse.

Mr. Farrow was born Feb.17, 1948, at Pendleton, to Elzie and Emma Farrow. He graduated from Pendleton High School in 1966. He participated in Junior Varsity basketball, track and field, football, and baseball while in high school. After graduation he attended Blue Mountain Community College and Eastern Oregon State College (now Eastern Oregon University) before joining the Army in 1968 during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Farrow was stationed in Kontum Pleiku and Durlac Provinces Central Highlands from August 1968 until August 1969. He was with the H.H.C. (Medics) 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry, 3rd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division. During his second tour he was stationed in Nha Trang, R.V.N., from August 1969 until March 1970. He was with the Emergency Room 8th Field Hospital, 44th Medical Brigade. Mr. Farrow received numerous medals for his service. After returning from the war, he worked for Indian Health Services, then the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and currently was with the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation as the Director of the Department of Natural Resources.

He married Louella Tewee in 1973 and had two sons, Gideon and Jeremiah.

He enjoyed tribal dancing, hunting, fishing, photography, cruising around, collecting river rocks with holes, gardening, picking wild flowers, putting together model airplanes, skin basketball and baseball, watching boxing especially Mohammad Ali, watching his favorite team, the St. Louis Cardinals, religious activities including alter-boy duties, being around his great-nephews and nieces, and horses especially Spanish mustangs but his favorite activity was telling jokes! He could make anybody laugh at any time.

Survivors include his wife, Lou, sons, Gideon and Jeremiah, mother, Emma Farrow, brothers, Matthew Farrow Sr., Bear Farrow, Eldon Farrow, and Richard Stapleman, sisters, Therese Farrow, Carol “Tweety” Morgan, Abby Stapleman, Cecelia Sheoships, Judy Farrow, Sally Farrow-Roy; nephews and neices and seven great-nephews and nieces.
