George Stroe, branch manager, said the new 10,000-square-foot building will provide a 2,000-square-foot showroom. That is five times the showroom space available at the current location, a city-owned building at 1805 N.W. 51st St. Standard Plumbing has leased that space from the city for the past five years.
“It’ll be a wonderful place to come and window shop, and to shop as well,” Stroe said, adding that he expects to be moving into the new building within three months. “Before the first snow flies, I would hope.”
In Hermiston, a new 10-bedroom, 11-bath, $354,082 residential care facility for Ashley Manor Properties is under construction at 1355 S.W. Manzanita Place. It is the largest private construction project permitted there in August. The city of Hermiston also has William Brother Construction building a new 1,510-square-foot wastewater treatment building, valued at $127,720.
In Grant County, three public projects dominate the building activity. The City of John Day is erecting a new $173,000 water reservoir and a $41,558 building for an airport pump station. Grant County is making some improvements to its criminal justice facility.
