HERMISTON – Recitation of the rosary for Maria de la luz Navarrete will be 6 p.m. today in the chapel at Burns of Hermiston. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Hermiston with burial to follow at the Hermiston Cemetery.

Mrs. Navarrete 78, a 26-year resident of Hermiston, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, Wash.

She was born May 8, 1926, at Huejuaquilla, Jalisco, Mexico, to Rafael Navarrete and Maria Marcos Flores and had lived in Hermiston the past 26 years..

Shewas a member of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church.

Mrs. Navarrete was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, and loved babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include sons, Reymundo Jara and Jesus Jara, both of Hermiston; daughters, Ortencia Renteria, Dominga Nava, and Hermelinda Nava, all of Hermiston, and Felicita Rodriguez of Fairfield, Calif.; sisters, Guadalupe Rios and Esther Rios, both of Cuidad, Juarez, Mexico, and Maria Santos Gonzales of Valparaiso, Mexico; 23 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Jara; son, Jesus Jara; brother, Antonio Navarrete; and sister, Tomasa Navarrete.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in charge of arrangements.
