HERMISTON – A wake for Karla K. Miller will be begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hermiston. The funeral will be 5 p.m. Thursday in the commons area of Sandstone Middle School with burial to follow at the Hermiston Cemetery.
Mrs. Miller, 57, of Hermiston, died Sunday, April 24, 2005, at her home.
She was born July 8, 1947, at Flint, Mich., to James “Marvin” Edward and Biffle Eoff Breidwell. She spent her childhood years in Flint and graduated from Bently High School. After graduation she moved with her parents to Sun City, Ariz., where she met her neighbor’s grandson, and husband-to-be, Chuck Miller.
She attended Glendale Community College, graduating with an associate of arts degree in 1967. She then went to work for the University of Arizona as a secretary in the research lab of the Entomology and Plant Pathology departments.
On June 1, 1968, she and Charles Edwin Miller, were married at Phoenix, Ariz. They soon moved to Chinle, Ariz., where they started their family. In 1975, they moved to Hermiston where they raised their family and built their home.
In August 1979, Mrs. Miller went to work for the Hermiston School District as the secretary at Armand Larive Junior High School. She moved over to Sandstone Middle School upon its completion, retiring in 2004 to spend time with her family and to travel.
She enjoyed NASCAR races, cooking, putting together jigsaw puzzles, reading, visiting friends and playing with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Miller was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hermiston and the Hermiston FFA Alumni Association.
Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Chuck Miller of Hermiston; daughter, Kim Bolen and her husband, Jeremy, of Hermiston; son, James Miller and his wife, Kimberly, of Medford; grandchildren, Paige Bolen, Melissa Pugsley, Mason Pugsley and Brittany Miller; sisters, Dixie Young of Flint, Mich., and Barbara Dohrman of Burton, Mich.; brother, Jack Bricker of Sun City, Ariz.; and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Biffle Breidwell, and her father-in-law, Harold Miller.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hermiston FFA Alumni Association or to Vange John Memorial Hospice.
