Perhaps the most apparent will be the name. Dennis Teskey explained renaming the business to Pendleton Pioneer Chapel, Folsom-Bishop, which will reflect the business’s history.
Records dating to 1910 show Ralph Folsom and John Baker owned and operated the Baker and Folsom Furniture and Undertaking. Folsom died in 1933 and his wife, Elsie, and their sons, Pat and Mike, took over the Folsom Funeral Home. Mike died in 1966 and Pat operated the business until 1969, when he sold it to Sandy and Renee Bishop, who changed the name to Folsom-Bishop Funeral Chapel. They ran it for 35 years and then sold it to Jim Cladwell and Jenny Patty.
The Teskeys also will offer cremations through Eastern Oregon Pioneer Crematory in Baker City, which they also own.
“It will all be under our control,” he said. “We don’t have to rely on somebody else to have it done.”
Teskey added the couple plans to rebuild the community’s trust in the funeral home.
