JV Dawgs take two

HERMISTON – The girls tennis dual meet between the Umatilla varsity and Hermiston junior varsity had to be determined by games won, while the margin of victory in the boys contest was six matches.
The girls teams fought to a 4-4 tie, but Hermiston won because it had 48 games won to Umatilla’s 46. The Hermiston JV boys, on the other hand, cruised to an 8-2 victory.

Umatilla and Hermiston each won two matches in singles and two in doubles. Although the team match was close, none of the individual matches required a tiebreaker.
One singles and two doubles matches were decided by 8-6 scores. A boys doubles contest ended up 9-8 in favor of Hermiston’s Ray Lund and Rocky Ortega over Alan Lougee and Josh Brown – after a 7-4 tiebreaker.
