Pendleton High School drama instructor John Remington said his acting students “performed admirably” Feb. 7 at the Regional Acting Competition, held at Sam Barlow High School.
With 300 students from 14 schools, PHS was represented by 20 students. Of these, five groups earned state finals honors.
“This means they will compete April 2 against the rest of the state for state showcase honors – the equivalent of a state championship in theatre arts,” Remington said.
The students include Deven Jennings, in solo music; Alexi Leonard and Claudia Ramirez, duo dramatic; Ramirez and Adam Charlton, duo comic; Emily Wallace and Jacki Penny, duo comic; and Penny and Ariel Dunn, pantomime.
Additionally, Remington noted, Cortley Williams, who was suffering from laryngitis, managed to earn a top 20 percent ribbon for her monologues.
