Umpqua Bank has moved into Eastern Oregon with a residential mortgage office at 112 S. Main St. in Pendleton. The company also has dipped into the local talent pool and hired Pendleton resident Elaine Lyle as a residential sales manager.
Lyle was a sales manager of residential production at Chase Home Mortgage in Pendleton. She has more than 16 years of experience in the mortgage industry. She is a graduate of Blue Mountain Community College and previously earned awards in production eight years running at Chase for being a top producer.

Last year, JP Morgan Chase bought out the struggling Washington Mutual. Following that move, Chase then closed smaller branches and moved employees to larger centers.
Lyle, though, didn’t leave her home in Pendleton and instead found a place with Umpqua, a company she described in glowing terms.
“They’re really customer based,” Lyle said Friday. “They really care about the customers.”
Ron Stroble, executive vice president of mortgage for Umpqua Bank, is a former Pendleton resident. He said the company has “experienced tremendous growth in the past year” with a 137 percent increase mortgage volume. He said the company’s move into Eastern Oregon is about continuing that growth in a new market.
At Umpqua, Lyle will head up growing the company’s market in Eastern Oregon and Washington, focusing on loans for FHA, Va, housing and residential construction loans.
Umpqua Bank’s headquarters are in Roseburg and is subsidiary of Umpqua Holdings Corp. with 150 locations between Napa, Calif. and Bellevue, Wash. Lyle is available at 541-379-9492 or by e-mail at ElaineLyle@umpquabank.com.
