HERMISTON – Mirella Navarrete Avila, 16, of Hermiston died Monday, May 18, 2009, at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston. Rosary will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 20 at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston. Funeral mass will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 21 at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Hermiston. Burial will follow at the Hermiston Cemetery.

Mirella was born Jan. 2, 1993, in Hermiston to Custodio Navarrete Cardenas and Amalia Navarrete Avila. She was raised in Hermiston, where she attended West Park Elementary School, Armand Larive Middle School (where she played basketball), and was a sophomore at Hermiston High School.

She is survived by her parents, Custodio Navarrete Cardenas and Amalia Navarrete Avila of Hermiston, and brothers Custodio Navarrete Avila Jr. and Elvis Navarrete Avila, both of Hermiston.
