UMATILLA COUNTY — Writers and artists living in or with strong connections to Umatilla County are encouraged to submit their works for possible inclusion in “Quill of the Umatilla.”

The Pendleton Public Library launched the project for the local literary magazine to highlight the talents of area residents. Oregon Humanities provided funding through its Mini Grant for Rural Libraries program.

The submission deadline is Tuesday, April 15. There is no cost.

Submissions must not include identifying information, as the selection committee will choose items for publication through an anonymous “blind reading” process. Submit contact information and a brief biography in a cover letter as a separate document.

Those with items chosen for publication will receive two copies of “Quill of the Umatilla.” After publication, copies of the magazine will be available for purchase.

Submissions are only accepted online. For guidelines and a link to the webform, visit www.pendletonor.gov/library or search Facebook via bit.ly/40WKhrg.
