Pendleton School District makes pick for Sunridge Middle School AD

PENDLETON — The Pendleton School District is recommending the board approve Doug Gunter as the new assistant principal and athletic director of Sunridge Middle School.
According to the Pendleton School District press release, the district decided to draw from the strong pool of Sunridge Middle School principal applicants, which went to Angie Horton, to fill the assistant principal position.
Gunter was considered a finalist in the recent Sunridge principal search.

He has spent the last 12 years as a teacher and executive director at Jane Goodall Environmental Middle School in the Salem-Keizer School District. He also taught at Adam Stephens Middle School in Salem-Keizer.
The Pendleton School District offered Gunter the position of assistant principal and athletic director, and he has accepted, according to the school district press release.
If approved, Gunter will assume the role on July 1, replacing Caleb Patterson, who has accepted a position in La Grande.
