HERMISTON — Canvas bags filled with “comfort” items were recently donated to the Good Shepherd Cancer Center to be distributed to patients undergoing cancer treatment.
According to a press release, the Good Shepherd Community Health Foundation filled the “breast cancer support bags” with essential items offering emotional support and encouragement. The bags include a tumbler, tea, a cozy beanie, soft socks, an anti-nausea inhaler and other thoughtful gift items.
Liz Marvin, GSCHF executive director, expressed gratitude for help with the project. Umatilla Electric Cooperative provided funding through employee donations and activities held during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Also, River Point Farms supported the cause by donating a portion of the proceeds from pink onion bag sales.
“The funds raised and the involvement of these generous organizations are what made the creation of these breast cancer support bags possible,” Marvin said. “These small gestures of kindness can make a meaningful difference for patients who are going through such a difficult time. We hope the bags provide them with a sense of comfort and remind them that they are supported by their community every step of the way.”
The Good Shepherd Cancer Center offers treatment options and compassionate support to help make the cancer journey as manageable as possible for patients and their families. For more information, search www.gshealth.org.
