UMATILLA — Residents of Umatilla now can get city emergency alerts on their smartphones.
The city of Umatilla has collaborated with CivicPlus, a government technology company, to implement the CivicReady emergency response system. According to the city press release, the system enables the city to send urgent alerts, emergency instructions, warnings and routine updates to subscribed community members via email, text message and voicemail.
Umatilla City Manager David Stockdale said the city is improving its ability to communicate critical information quickly and effectively, ensuring every community member can access the information they need in the most convenient way.
“This is about making sure every member of our community has access to reliable and timely information,” Nanci Sandoval, public information officer for Umatilla said. “CivicReady allows us to improve transparency and strengthen engagement with the public, whether it’s an emergency notification, a service disruption, or important city updates.”
Community members can download the CivicReady app on Google and Apple devices to stay informed and receive real-time emergency alerts impacting Umatilla. For more information about the system, visit the city’s website.
