According to a press release, Westford invites exhibit viewers to explore the intersection of silence and surface through a meditative lens. Drawing inspiration from organic forms and deeper truths, she explores the beauty and complexity in works that resonate with a quiet intensity. Westford’s mixed-media compositions reflect a profound connection to the subtleties of everyday experiences and the unspoken emotions they evoke.

Westford was among 13 artists from across the region featured in “Local Color,” an April 2024 exhibit at the Feves gallery. Also, she was included in the Small Works Invitational in May 2024 at Pendleton Center for the Arts. In addition, Westford placed second in the adult division during the 45th Open Regional Exhibit in spring 2019 at the arts center.

Regular hours at the Betty Feves Memorial Gallery are Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Admission is free.

A nonprofit exhibit space, the gallery’s namesake, Betty Feves, moved to Pendleton in 1945 and began exhibiting her work in 1952. While she became an internationally known ceramic artist, she remained active in the local arts community.

The Arts Council of Pendleton raised money for a commissioned piece by Feves for the Vert Auditorium. However, when she died before it was complete, the funds were dedicated to creating a gallery in her memory. The gallery’s mission is to connect emerging and established artists with BMCC students, staff and the community.
