From the editor’s desk: Holiday events and hard news

Published 9:00 am Saturday, December 7, 2024

Dear readers,

With the holidays in full swing, we’ve had an abundance of events to report on throughout Northeastern Oregon. From the recent parades in La Grande and Joseph to providing 300 Thanksgiving meals in Baker City to Santa turning on the juice for Hermiston’s community Christmas Tree.

And that was only some of the events. You can find more about community events and other news at each of our websites: East Oregonian, Baker City Herald, Blue Mountain Eagle, Hermiston Herald, The Observer and Wallowa County Chieftain.

Our newsrooms also have been tackling serious news and situations.

Berit Thorson at the EO is staying on top of the latest developments in the Columbia Development Authority board’s conflicts.

And Blue Mountain Eagle editor Bennett Hall has a deep dig into Grant County’s new justice of the peace — a former police chief who lost his Oregon police certification for life. That report will be online and in print this next week.
