- Eastern Oregon Philippine-American Community members perform a traditional Filipino folk dance on their float during the Main Street Cowboys Dress-Up Parade on Sept. 9, 2023, in Pendleton. The application deadline for entries to be judged during the 2024 parade is Aug. 25.
PENDLETON — The Main Street Cowboys are gearing up for the “Greatest Free Show in the West” when the group takes over four downtown blocks during Pendleton Round-Up. It features artisan/commercial vendors, food booths and live entertainment.
Kicking off the fun is the annual Dress-Up Parade on Sept. 7, 10 a.m. Entries wanting to be judged need to apply by Aug. 25. Late applications will be accepted through Sept. 6, however, they will not be judged.
The parade begins with a blast from the cannon and ends with the whistling and whimsical sounds of a calliope. Just dress up and have fun; rowdy and raucous, almost anything goes — participants include equestrian groups, court royalty, bands, floats, service clubs and youth/community organizations.
The sweepstakes award, the Larry Wahl Memorial Trophy, will be presented by the Main Street Cowboys. In addition, the president’s choice and first place trophies will be awarded in all divisions.
The parade application and rules are available via www.mainstreetcowboys.org. For questions, contact 541-278-9332 or mainstreetcowboys@gmail.com.
