UKIAH — Ukiah’s modest bond proposal for its aging school building received a failing grade from the city’s voters.

Measure 30-163 failed 60.6% to 39.4%, or 57-37 votes.

The measure was to provide bond funding for improvements to school facility and shared community spaces in Ukiah. The bond funding would have provided an amount not to exceed $1.5 million, with another $1.5 million to be provided by a state matching grant.

The approval of the bond would have provided increased library capacity, increase in student classroom spaces, a new shared fitness center and updated building access to improve functionality, public access and student academic options.
